Christina Byrne brings over 25 years of experience in local government, public outreach, and project management, with a career dedicated to advancing complex transportation initiatives across Southern California. As HNTB’s Director of Industry Relations and Strategic Engagement, Christina leads efforts to align business strategy with regional client programs, acting as a vital connector between leadership teams, client service managers, and the communities they serve.
Her expertise in designing and executing award-winning public participation strategies is evident in her leadership on transformative projects such as the I-405 Improvement Design-Build Project, the Garden Grove Freeway (SR-22), the West County Connectors, and the OC Streetcar—Orange County’s first modern streetcar.
Equally committed to the people behind the projects, Christina is a passionate advocate for professional and leadership development. Her dedication to mentoring and empowering the next generation of communicators and transportation professionals has earned her top honors, including the 2023 WTS-OC Woman of the Year and the 2020 CAPIO Paul B. Clark Award.
Christina holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Chapman University and a master’s in public administration from California State University, Long Beach. She lives in Anaheim Hills with her husband and two sons.
