Currently, Bryan serves as the Assistant Secretary of Communications for the California Government Operations Agency (GovOps), helping oversee communications for 15 state departments.
Before joining GovOps in 2026, Bryan spent nine years in various communications roles at the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES), helping to guide California through its most challenging disasters—from historic wildfires and earthquakes to the global pandemic. Bryan’s expertise was honed over three decades as a premier television sportscaster, covering high-profile events including seven Super Bowls and five World Series, before bringing that skill set to public safety.
Throughout their career, Bryan has represented California in hundreds of global media interviews and has worked on the ground in every one of the state’s 58 counties.
