Kim Nava is the Director of the Sacramento County Department of Public Information, where she leads the County's strategic communications, media relations, crisis communications, digital engagement and public outreach efforts. Since her appointment in 2017, she has focused on strengthening transparency, building public trust and positioning communications as a strategic asset that supports the County's mission of serving more than 1.6 million residents.

Before joining Sacramento County as a Senior Public Information Officer in 2015, Kim spent 20 years at California State University, Sacramento, where she served as Director of News Services and held senior communication roles in Public Affairs and the Office of the President.

Kim earned a Bachelor of Arts in English, cum laude, from California State University, Sacramento, and holds the J. Lindsey Wolf Certificate in Communications from the California Association of Public Information Officers. She is a Past President of the Public Relations Society of America, California Capital Chapter. In 2026, she received the County LGBTQ Caucus's Ally of the Year Award in recognition of her advocacy for and support of LGBTQ County employees and issues.
