As Assistant Chief of Corporate Communications and Chief of Staff for the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA), Chief Olson oversees multiple departments, including Public Relations, Multi-Media, Community Education, Social Media, and the agency’s 24/7/365 Public Information Officer (PIO) section. A key member of the executive team, Matt also serves as a principal advisor to the Fire Chief and a key liaison for the agency’s 25-member elected Board of Directors.

Prior to joining the OCFA, Chief Olson served as the Deputy Chief of Staff & Director of Executive Communications in the Office of the President at Cal State Fullerton. Chief Olson is a member of the Writers Guild of America and earned a Master of Fine Arts in Screenwriting from Cal State Fullerton, a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from Loyola Marymount University, and a 100 Gross Ton Master Captain’s License from the United States Coast Guard.
