How do you build relationships and get things done when life doesn’t let up? 2023 was my most challenging year, both personally and professionally. I cared for my mother during her final months, managed a difficult stakeholder group on a controversial capital improvement project, and served as CAPIO president. Even as 2024 began, there was no pause button. I continued to juggle new projects, daily responsibilities, and the ongoing challenges of grief and anxiety. In this session, we’ll talk about ways to show empathy to yourself and others, manage change, handle surprises, and navigate tough, politically sensitive projects. I’ll share what helped me keep a big project on track and how I supported both my department and myself along the way.
