Good Ideas Don't Sell Themselves: Moving Innovation Forward in Risk-Averse Organizations
Description

Every organization says it wants innovation, yet many good ideas never move beyond office walls, a parking lot chat, or a conversation between colleagues. The problem usually isn't the idea, but the process of gaining support for it.  In public agencies, communicators often find themselves advocating for change in environments where caution, competing priorities, limited resources, and fear of failure can make even the best ideas difficult to advance. This session explores practical techniques for building support, reducing perceived risk, overcoming resistance, and creating momentum to give new ideas the opportunity for success.   Participants will learn how to identify barriers before they become roadblocks, frame ideas in ways decision-makers can support, build allies across the organization, and increase the likelihood that good ideas get a chance to grow. Whether you're introducing a new initiative, changing a process, or trying to solve a sticky problem, you'll leave with helpful strategies and newfound confidence in championing your ideas.
