Sarbjeet ‘Sabby’ Kaur is the citywide Language Access Coordinator for the City of San José. As a part of the City Manager’s Office of Communications team, she develops language access policy, conducts staff trainings and manages vendor contracts for translations and interpretation. From March 2020 to September 2021, she was honored to lead the multi-lingual Language Access Unit team in the City’s Emergency Operations Center, supporting the City’s response to COVID-19 and providing critical, timely COVID-19 information to residents in the languages that they speak.

Sabby holds a Master’s degree in German from Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi, India and speaks four languages – English, Punjabi, Hindi and German. As an immigrant from India, she is a committed member of the Refugee and Immigrant Forum of Santa Clara County. She lives in the city of Saratoga with her family. She is an avid reader, movie-goer and traveler who loves exploring new worlds (imaginary or otherwise!).
