Sam Read is the Communications Manager at the City of Seattle’s Department of Neighborhoods. He has spent more than 20 years working in communications, as a storyteller, a theatre producer, a nonprofit arts leader, and now a public information officer. Prior to joining the City of Seattle, Sam spent more than 15 years working in the arts sector, from managing a small nonprofit theatre to serving as Deputy Director of Theatre Puget Sound and Director of External Relations at the University of Washington School of Drama. He currently leads a team at Seattle Department of Neighborhoods committed to reimagining communications within local government, particularly as it intersects with anti-racism, storytelling, and belonging.
