Al Reyes’ career includes extensive experience working in television and government as an executive media manager, TV reporter and producer. For almost 20 years, Al managed communications and community outreach for the Los Angeles County Child Support Services Department, the largest locally-administered child support agency in the country.

Reyes was involved in the recruitment of on-air talent and other television professionals from 1997-2002 as the Director of Diversity Programs and Community Relations at ABC7, the Disney owned television station in Los Angeles. He also served as executive director of CCNMA, a nationally-recognized, professional association of student and professional journalists which was housed by the USC School of Journalism. Reyes also worked as communications deputy for L.A. City council members Robert Farrell and Mark Ridley-Thomas.

Mr. Reyes is an award-winning former television journalist and reporter who started his career at KFSN-TV and KMJ-TV in Fresno, California. His experience includes 20 years working as a reporter, writer and producer for television and radio stations in California and “Checking It Out,” a national educational TV series on PBS. He is a two-time winner of the Gold Medallion Award given by the California State Bar Association for outstanding reporting on legal issues.

In line with the CAPIO convention, Al Reyes has a special work connection to the Monterey area. In 1987, Reyes was honored to serve as executive producer of “A Special Day in Monterey” an hour-long documentary for the Catholic Diocese of Monterey that captured the historic visit of Pope John Paul II to Monterey and Carmel. He also covered farm labor issues in the Salinas Valley and Central Coast during his Fresno TV reporting days.
