Gabriella Rodriguez is a bilingual TV news journalist turned public relations, media relations,
and media training expert. She is currently the Deputy Public Information Officer at the Port of
San Diego, an organization that manages more than 30 miles of waterfront property for the
State of California. For the Port, she creates press releases, key messaging, talking points, plans
press conferences, and handles media inquiries. The topics she has recently covered for the
Port are multifaceted and include environmental projects, development, cargo, parks and
public use spaces, cruise industry news, public safety and crisis management.
Gabriella’s experience as a journalist for more than 10 years took her to places all around the
country and has been critical to her success in the public relations world and as a media
trainer. She is a two-time Emmy Award winning journalist. Her passion for storytelling and
helping her community is what drives her.
In addition to her role at the Port of San Diego, during her spare time Gaby enjoys sharing her
expertise in media training and crisis management in both Spanish and English. She has a
unique understanding of the media landscape both as a former journalist and as a working
public information officer.
Gabriella is a graduate of Whittier College in Whittier, California, where she focused her
coursework on English literature with a minor in Spanish Literature. She completed her minor
courses at the University of Malaga in Spain.
