In a political climate steeped in polarization, misinformation and anxiety, it was clear that the 2024 presidential election would face unprecedented voter distrust. Despite a sterling history and national recognition for election integrity, the Contra Costa County Elections Division (CCCED) knew it would be challenging to maintain the electorate’s faith in the upcoming election. To address this concern, CCCED retained Brown∙Miller Communications to develop a countywide election trust campaign. The public-private partnership created an award winning ad campaign focused on showing voters how elections work-from ballot security to vote counting-through direct outreach, advertising and digital content. Our presentation will detail the work behind this campaign and the results that beat expectations. Attendees will get insight into the research done prior to the campaign, the decisions made on the collateral and methods used to get the word out as well as how results were measured.
