Michelle Bender has dedicated over a decade to the City of San Marcos, shaping its growth and operational excellence through her leadership. She began her tenure in 2009 as a Human Resource Analyst and quickly ascended the ranks. By 2011, she was promoted to Human Resources/Risk Manager, followed by Director of Human Resources/Risk in 2014. Her expertise and leadership earned her a broader role as Deputy City Manager in 2018, and in 2021, she advanced to Assistant City Manager. In August 2023, Michelle was appointed City Manager, where she continues to lead with vision and dedication.
Before joining the public sector, Michelle honed her skills in various human resources roles in the private sector, bringing valuable experience and perspective to her municipal work. She holds a bachelor's degree in industrial and organizational psychology from the University of South Africa, which has been foundational in her approach to organizational leadership and innovation.
