City of Belmont’s Jozi Plut, was promoted to Belmont’s first appointed City Clerk and Communications Coordinator role in 2020, after more than a decade with the agency starting as a temporary office assistant. As communications coordinator, Jozi facilitated the implementation of the city’s first council-approved communications plan; created to re-energize community engagement. Jozi is instrumental in assuring the City has the tools and staff to provide timely, transparent, and relevant communication to its stakeholders. Additionally, she administers all the traditional duties of the City Clerk, including the role of elections official, and serves as a liaison between the public and the City Council providing access to information, she serves as a guide to open participation in the decision- and policy-making process.
Jozi immigrated to the US with her family as young schoolgirl from Slovenia and attended schools in San Francisco. She was recently certified as a Certified Municipal Clerk and California Professional Municipal Clerk through the University of Riverside, CA, and just last fall received a Professional Certification in Leading Smart Communities from Pepperdine’s Davenport Institute. When not at her desk, she enjoys the outdoors with her husband, cooking and entertaining for her family and friends, supporting her two phenomenal adult children as they find their niche in the professional world, and planning her trip around the world (A girl can dream, right?!).
