Speaker Bio
Since tragically losing her beloved 17 year old son Zach to fentanyl poisoning from a counterfeit pain pill on December 27, 2020, Laura Didier has devoted her life to raising awareness and educating families on these dangers. Early in her grief, she became connected to a family run nonprofit fentanyl awareness organization called Song For Charlie. For the past year she has served as their Outreach Coordinator. Laura has worked with the counties of Sacramento and Placer to help develop their "1 Pill Can Kill" campaigns. She has shared her son's story at countless town halls, parent information nights, and to over 50,000 students at school wide assemblies. Zach's story has also been featured in dozens of local, national, and international news reports with the goal of warning others. Laura has also worked with her local elected officials to craft and support legislation to combat this issue. In February she, along with Zach's father Chris, attended the President's State of the Union Address at the invitation of their Congressman, Kevin Kiley. While she is grateful to see how much fentanyl awareness has grown since Zach's tragic death, she knows that there is much work left to be done.
