Being a Public Information Officer in a small agency often means wearing multiple hats while still being expected to deliver the full scope of professional communications. This session will bring together a panel of part-time or “hybrid role” PIOs to share practical tips, hacks, and strategies for making it all work, from stretching a shoestring budget to leveraging tools and templates to balancing PIO responsibilities with other duties.In addition to sharing practical approaches, panelists will also discuss ways to advocate for additional resources or budget - whether that involves building a case for professional development, developing a modest communications budget, or demonstrating the value of strong communications to leadership.Attendees will gain not only actionable ideas, but also camaraderie and encouragement from peers who understand the unique challenges of working as a team of one (or less). Together, we’ll explore how to deliver the level of communication our communities deserve and expect, even with limited time, staffing, or resources. Participants will leave with new ideas, examples, and the confidence of knowing they are not alone.
