Successful communication doesn’t stop at your department’s door, and public communication doesn’t happen in a vacuum. Yet many communicators are asked to build external partnerships while still navigating internal silos, competing priorities, and uneven buy-in. This session explores how internal and external communication can function as one connected strategy, even when you don’t have direct authority over the people you need to collaborate with.
Participants will learn how to strengthen internal communication, build trust across departments, and create a shared language that aligns messaging, priorities, and resources around a common mission. We’ll explore how intentional internal storytelling and consistent communication can foster ownership and momentum, helping teams understand not only what’s being asked of them, but why it matters.
From there, we’ll examine how internal alignment directly impacts an organization’s ability to engage external partners, translate complex cross-sector goals into messages that resonate, and amplify impact through shared outcomes. Using real-world examples of cross-department and cross-sector collaboration, attendees will gain practical tools to break down silos, align messaging, and connect people to purpose within their organization and beyond. You’ll leave with strategies to build bridges, strengthen partnerships, and ensure your communication is not just heard, but multiplied.
