Carrie Lujan serves as the Communications Manager for the City of Santa Clarita, where she oversees citywide centralized communications and leads strategic storytelling, public engagement and crisis communication. In this role, she helps guide the community through both everyday moments and challenging times, ensuring residents remain informed and connected with their local government.
Known for her creative, forward-thinking approach, Lujan brings innovation to municipal communications by designing experiences that capture attention and create meaningful moments. Notable recent examples include incorporating a live orchestra performance into the illumination event for the River of Lights, a new public light display, and adding goats and a touch-a-truck element to the annual fire safety press conference to creatively highlight wildfire prevention and vegetation management efforts.
Lujan was proud to be recognized as the 2021 3CMA Communicator of the Year and under her leadership, Santa Clarita’s Communications Division was recognized with the 2020 Frank Potter Cowan Crisis Communication Leader Award from CAPIO. The Communications Division is also regularly honored with prestigious CAPIO Epic Awards and 3CMA Savvy Awards.
She is also deeply invested in the Santa Clarita community as the host of a weekly television show, SCVTV’s Community Corner, a board member for Bridge to Home, a board member of The Salvation Army Santa Clarita Corps and a supporter of the many nonprofit organizations serving the community.
