NOT Just Checking a DEI Box - Implementing Effective Community-Based Partnerships to Reach Community Stakeholders
Description
Diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility have become the buzz words of public agencies of late. Learn how LA Metro turned these buzz words into action for a transportation planning project in a 99 percent equity focused 13-mile-long corridor where 90% of the households are non-white; 60% live below the poverty line (<$35k per year); 84% do not have access to a car and 66% of existing transit riders use transit 5+ days per week. Learn how Metro effectively built trust with community and faith-based organizations and reached 6000 stakeholders over four months, many of whom never participated in a public planning process before.
