During a crisis, the decision to activate a Joint Information Center (JIC) can make a significant difference in creating and establishing a unified voice for your jurisdiction. Information must be gathered, vetted, and produced in a manner that reflects the evolving needs of an incident. Whether a pandemic, cybersecurity incident, or other type of emergency, information both internally and externally is a key component to successfully managing the incident while maintaining public trust. As communicators, when all eyes are on us, the power of the JIC helps us achieve successful outcomes. The City of Long Beach has activated our Joint Information Center on numerous occasions. This session will share lessons learned and provide those attendees with valuable insight on how best to leverage this tool to get your message out quickly and effectively while being responsive to your community, jurisdictional leadership, and other partners. Now is the time...Activate the JIC!
